Welcome to the only newsletter in WordPress by women, for women, and about women. The women of WordPress have been up to some amazing things this week! This Issue's Wonder Woman: Katie KeithI'm Katie Keith, founder and CEO of Barn2 Plugins. I started the company with my husband, Andy, and now run it solo with an amazing remote team of 17 people. What began as a side project has grown into a successful business selling WordPress and WooCommerce plugins to customers worldwide. I'm proud to be a woman leading in tech, and passionate about building user-focused products and a company culture that supports flexibility, creativity, and balance. What is your mantra? My mantra is to get things done, keep it simple, and always put the user first. I believe in making fast, meaningful progress — launching early, learning quickly, and constantly improving, while staying focused on what really matters to our customers and our team. Tell us 3-5 tech tools that you swear by that make life & work a little easier. Slack keeps the team connected, ClickUp organizes our work, and Google Drive handles all our docs. Zapier automates repetitive tasks, and ChatGPT helps with everything from research to making difficult decisions. They make running my business so much easier! What's in your mug/glass/bottle during work hours? We're currently diversifying into Shopify and I attended the Shopify Editions.dev conference a couple of weeks ago. They were serving very impressive cocktails in Shopify-branded glasses and there's a small chance that I may have smuggled one home with me to keep on my desk! What's in your mug/glass/bottle after hours? I never developed a taste for hot drinks or alcohol, which has positive but unintentional health benefits! As a result, I mostly only drink water — the exception being when I'm away from home at work parties, when I let my hair down a bit more. Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to your younger self? Stop overthinking and just start. Don’t wait years dreaming about launching products or running a business — do it now. The moment you put something out there, doors start to open. You’ll learn faster, grow quicker, and find opportunities you never imagined.
