WP Wonder Women Newsletter, Vol 1, Issue 35

Welcome to the only newsletter in WordPress by women, for women, and about women.

The women of WordPress have been up to some amazing things this week!

This Issue's Wonder Woman: Kirsten Starcher

Kirsten Starcher is the owner of Outside in the Sun Productions. She began her online career in New York during the dot-com boom, and has been involved in every aspect of web design, development, and content creation, plus a detour playing bass in a touring rock band. She has specialized in WordPress for the past 15 years, and recently developed a course on basic troubleshooting skills for WordPress. She writes about our mindsets about technology in her blog, Facing Your Screen.

What is your mantra?

These days it’s “where attention goes, energy flows.”

Tell us 3-5 tech tools that you swear by that make life & work a little easier.

  1. MyNoise - for infinite ambient background sound to focus to, that you can customize to perfection
  2. PasswordPusher (pwpush) - to prevent clients from sending passwords insecurely over email
  3. MuteKey - stop fumbling around for the onscreen mute button during calls

What's in your mug/glass/bottle during work hours?

Tea or water. I have a ridiculous tea selection with something for every mood.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle after hours?

Coconut water maybe, or some kind of interestingly flavoured fizzy water.

Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to your younger self?

You put a lot of focus on “getting it right." There are times when that matters - and times where you need to be able to let that go, and be okay with knowing that you could have done something better.
