WP Wonder Women Newsletter, Vol 1, Issue 14

Welcome to the only newsletter in WordPress by women, for women, and about women.

The women of WordPress have been up to some amazing things this week!

This Issue's Wonder Woman: Laura Byrne

Laura’s first career was in nonprofit marketing, development, and communication where she created the organization’s first website in Microsoft FrontPage. In 2006, Laura found WordPress and never turned back. On the side, as a fan of all things sci-fi and fantasy, she was a website and forum moderator for a variety of very popular websites covering the entertainment industry. Flash forward a decade, and the hobby became her main career. She is currently an Account Manager at WebDevStudios.

What is your mantra?

Only she who attempts the absurd can achieve the impossible.

Tell us 3-5 tech tools that you swear by that make life & work a little easier.

  • Chat GPT, seriously what did we ever do without this. It helps me jump start so many tasks.
  • Yoast (they are not paying me to says this) literally all of their plugins make my SEO and content revision life easier.
  • Panda Docs to create proposals, great templates, easy to use, love it. Saves time.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle during work hours?

Coffee with a splash of cream. Usually a French Roast. I like the medium to dark roasts best. But fall is coming and I live for the nut-based roasts: pecan, hazelnut, maple and nut blends, etc.

What's in your mug/glass/bottle after hours?

Wine. White and Rose in the Summer and Red in the fall and winter. Sauvignon Blanc, Gavi, Bordeaux, Malbec, Valpolicella, Montepulciano are a couple of favorites. Occasionally I like a good single malt highland scotch.

Knowing what you do now, what advice would you give to your younger self?

You were right the first time, go with your gut. If they don't make room at the table, find a better table or bring your own damn chair and squeeze in.
